Residential Lighting Best Practices Report

The Residential Lighting Best Practices Report (Volume R1) presents results of a comparative analysis of six residential lighting programs, each of which focused on increasing the efficiency of residential lighting through natural replacement purchases and occasional special events. Technologies addressed include compact florescent lamps and fixtures. All the programs were part of either regional or statewide coordination efforts, and each leveraged the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) promotion of ENERGY STAR®-labeled products. The programs relied heavily on relationships with an array of market actors from manufacturers to distributors, retailers, and customers. Three key themes that drive residential lighting program success were identified: strategic partnerships and collaboration, relationship building, and simplicity of participation.
